Need to remove glass ceiling for women in the higher judiciary?

Women in law have seen great progress over the last decades and several women have been designated senior advocates and there have been many women judges in the lower judiciary. However, there remains a glass ceiling for women in the higher judiciary. Out of 25 High Courts, only the Gujarat High Court has a woman Chief Justice. The share of women judges in the High Courts is only 14.27% . Currently, of the 754 High Court judges in India, only 106 are women. Though, Some High Courts are doing reasonably well. Punjab and Haryana High Court has 14 women judges, Madras High Court has 12, and Bombay has 10 women judges. Delhi High Court has 9, which is still embarrassingly low for the nation's capital.
